Current graders are mounted on six wheels and the most popular models are mainly articulated graders. Motor graders with the articulation joint at the front offer good visibility to the operator on the blade carrier circle, the blade itself, the front wheels as well as the blade lift cylinder. Its large blade, also called shield, is its major asset. It can be oriented vertically or horizontally, up to 90°. With its steerable wheels and articulated arm, it facilitates the possibility of carrying out precise and efficient levelling. The machine is also equipped with a counterweight which allows it to maintain stability during its various jobs. Motor graders are powered by powerful, direct drive or torque converter motors.
The motor grader can be used with the blade as a means of creating better drainage when laying new roads, shallow drainage ditches near the road or creating small lanes for occasional road edge drainage. They are equally effective for places that receive a large amount of snowfall, so they use graders to clear the roads.
